Five Things No One Prepares You For Parenthood

Tonight there was a chick walking around the gym wearing shorts, an oversized white t-shirt and a winter stocking cap, carrying an open party size bag of Cheetohs. If there was anyone I'd like to walk up and say hi to, it was that girl. Amazing.

So Jordan has been traveling for work quite a bit lately, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't love all the extra girl time I'm getting with Syd. She's become such a hilarious little best friend of mine, and even though of course she has her Sour Patch Kid moments (like chucking her shoe out the car window perhaps), she's such a good little girl.

Hiiii!

I'm not sure if there's enough coffee in the world to make me feel human today---I'm SO tired. You know the feeling when you're so tired that your body has the shivers and your eyeballs are on fire?? Yeah--currently happening. Last Thursday Syd came down with a cold and cough, which obviously triggered her asthma, and we were up with her all night. Friday she stayed home from school because she was even worse and her nebulizer wasn't working too well and then started vomiting from all her coughing and evidently a weak stomach. Saturday and Sunday she continued to get better with the help of steroids---but my body just has not caught up on sleep. #whambulance

Sydney finally went #2 on the potty this morning, so cheers to the freaking weekend. We haven't officially started potty training yet, but it's right around the corner so any tips and/or suggestions are more than welcomed!

Stage of Life

Back in college Thursdays were Thirsty Thursdays and the promise of fun weekend with no responsibilities. Eleven years later (holy shit) Thursdays now mean Grey's Anatomy and one more day until I have an extra set of hands that can catch Sydney. // Wait, has it really been over a decade since I was last in college? And yes, I still watch Grey's...you know you watch it too.

RIP Dr. McDreamy. And, evidently, my youth.

Disney World

Disney World. The Happiest Place on Earth. One of my all-time favorite places in the world, and something I've been most looking forward to doing ever since we found out we were pregnant. My mom is one of the biggest Disney fans I know, only to beat her was possibly her own mother, and I distinctly remember traveling to Disneyland and Disney World all the time as a kid and obviously loving it.

We decided to bring Sydney to Disney World for her second birthday, 1/3 because I was so anxious to introduce her to one of my most treasured past times, 1/3 because Disney in January has relatively lower attendance (if you know my husband, you know this is vital), and 1/3 because she could still fly for free if we booked the trip before her second birthday. Jordan had never been (to either Disney World or Disneyland) and I was so excited to introduce him to Mickey as well---although I can't say his enthusiasm matched mine. Being the Disney fanatic she is, my mom couldn't help but somehow manage to squeeze her, my dad and my brother along for the trip, but I didn't mind because---DISNEY!
