{12 Days of Giveaways} Day 3 : Fawn Design

I had been on the hunt for a new purse for about a year now. I wanted something big but easy to carry, roomy but zippered shut, lots of pockets but didn't scream diaper bag, stylish details but not gaudy . . . it seemed I was looking for a unicorn. Furthermore, Sydney's home with me full-time now, and we're constantly on-the-go (for both logistical and sanity reasons)---as in we often leave the house by 7:30 AM and don't return until nap time, which means I was carrying my purse, my gym bag, Sydney's backpack and an extra bag of whatever else the day entailed, coffee, water, Sydney's water, sunglasses, etc. etc. etc. I was a walking solo juggling act every single day---and I was totally over it.

I had seen Fawn Design bags all over Instagram, and I've always loved the look of them---sleek, stylish and seemingly functional, as lots of moms had them and loved them, but I had never seen one in-person and was hesitant to commit to a purchase without trying it out. Until I had coffee with a girlfriend, which changed my bag-carrying life forever. See, my friend is known for always carrying her stylish Louis Vuitton Neverfull, so I was surprised to see her with a super cute black bag with amazing gold hardware. She mentioned she was sick of her two boys dumping stuff in there (because it doesn't have a closure on top), and she was also tired of things getting lost (it's just a huge open space). She started raving about her bag, which I noted was Fawn Design, and I asked to see the inside. I was totally hooked!

Once I received my Fawn Design bag, I was shocked to see how truly gorgeous it was in-person. I had looked at my friend's, but I didn't get a chance to examine it; the leather is thick, durable and high-quality, and the gold hardware is not only the perfect shade of gold but is also sturdy and stylish. I can't decide which is my favorite quality: the bag's two carrying options (over-the-shoulder and backpack styles) or the several super functional pockets.

I've never loved backpacks. Even when they came back in style when I in middle-to-high school, I opted for an amazing bright pink plastic Barbie backpack (it was amazing, trust). I've always thought they look kind of dorky, and I never liked bothering to put the other strap on (I couldn't commit to two straps evidently). However, since becoming a mom and realizing you have to carry every-freaking-thing and more, I've had to admit freeing up my hands and carrying the load on my back would be incredibly convenient. When I first saw a Fawn Design bag worn as a backpack, I loved the look of it. Maybe because it was a super stylish mom who I dreamt to be or maybe because I was subconsciously looking for a backpack option, but regardless I loved it. Actually using it as a backpack?? OBSESSED. My life is changed, and my hands are freed. (And the smooth straps make it easy to slip on over both shoulders!)

I used to have a very Type B personality, and if I'm being honest with myself I guess I still am. But if I'm being really honest with myself, I have to admit I'm pretty dang Type A. I need structure and organization in my life to feel calm and kept together, which ranges from my house to planners and calendars (yes, multiples) to my bags and purses. Honestly, I love the look of LV's Neverfull, but the thought of such a big open bag literally gives me anxiety (I may need to be medicated). I love Fawn Design's pockets because they're so functional and they're not just randomly placed. There are four exterior pockets: two open on the side and one open and one zippered on the front. I love the open pockets on the outside for keeping my phone (easy access) and sunglasses, and the zippered outside pocket is Sydney's favorite (I've often found Poppy, Sydney's tiny Troll doll from a blind bag, nestled in).

There are five open pockets lining the inside of the bag---and they're so bomb. There are two on the sides, which I standardly keep one of Sydney's water bottles in, and two on the inside front (where I keep Sydney's ballet shoes, keys and gum). The big open part of the bag is amazing and holds SO much. I use my clutch from Logan & Lenora to hold Sydney's things (extra pair of underwear, mini sunnies, organic lollipops for meltdown prevention) and have my own little bag to hold my things (lipgloss, hand sanitizer, hair binders, etc.) in addition to keeping my wallet, a package of wipes and Sydney's purse in there. I also stick our lunches in the bag when I know we're going to be gone all day, as well as Sydney's iPad---and yes, it all fits comfortably and easily!

I've partnered with Fawn Design to give one of you a FREE! bag of your choice! Head on over to my Instagram for details---and for an extra bonus entry, please comment below your favorite color AND the funniest item usually found in your purse or bag.

Happy Monday, my friends!

xoxo,
Sarah

  1. Love this bag! Blush is my fav. But black is very pretty too (: the funniest item in my current bag is probably this weird little Hank toy (finding dory) my son is obsessed with. I keep taking it out and somehow it always finds its way back in

  7. I am in love with these bags! With baby #3 coming this month, I've been looking for a new diaper bag that's both functional and stylish. My favorite was the grey, but seeing this brown on you is giving me second thoughts! I'd have to say that the weirdest thing I've found in my bag is the tv remote after looking everywhere for it! Ahhh... kids!

  13. Absolutely love this bag - especially in black. I am usually freezing ALL THE TIME (when I'm not pregnant like I am now) & so I carry around a pair of long socks a lot, you know, in case the opportunity to put them on presents itself (:

  16. I love the brown!!! Such a classic and versatile color! Probably the most random thing currently in my bag is a plastic dog ornament from a Cheerios box

  17. Obsessed with the brown! 😍 Funniest thing that's NEVER in my diaper bag/purse is my wallet. Stella is obsessed with taking it out to play with it, so I end up at Target being that mom with no card. 🙈 xo!

  18. I love the grey bag! It has a classy and subtle feel to it! I need a new diaper bag and these diaper bags are built for tough moms with two little girls who stuff everything into their diaper bags! The craziest thing I have in my diaper bag is pliers becuase my zipper pullers keep falling off and I use them to reattached them to my diaper bag so I can open it!

  19. Oh my goodness the brown!!! And I'm a neat freak so my diaper bag is pretty standard and organized with a change of clothes, diapers, wipes, extra bottle, snacks, and the favorite boogie wipes.

  20. It's a toss up between grey or tan! ☺️ Funniest thing in my diaper bag would be extra toddler undies or a half eaten snack.

  21. Awesome review! I've been looking for a diaper bag just like this! The option to wear it as a backpack would be so helpful with a newborn & toddler! My favorite color is the grey and the funniest things in my bag are pads or liners that my daughter likes to open & unwrap. There have been times when I got my phone or wallet out at stores and there's a pad stuck to it.

  22. I love love the grey color (second to the sold out olive color) and I have chewed up wooden teethers rings in my bag for my dog, because she has chewed them up before and if I don't bring them she takes more to chew from my daughter. Silly puppy
